Pre-Feast Checklist 2024

1 - PLEASE READ THE “POST” PAGE ON OUR WEBSITE as it contains important information you need to know before you leave for the Feast in France at: https://www.ucg.org/members/feast/sites/2024/club-mileade-la-gaillarde-france/posts

2 - PLEASE BRING HEADPHONES WITH A STANDARD JACK to plug into the translation receiver which will be provided onsite. Some of the services will be held in French and some in English, with simultaneous translation into the other language provided via translation equipment.

3 - PLEASE BRING YOUR ENGLISH HYMN BOOK - If you’d like, here is a link to all of the English download options for our hymnal:  https://www.ucg.org/members/hymnal and a link to the web version of the hymnal :  http://streaming.ucg.org/files/ucg-hymnal-app/index.html?_ga=2.227260574.2095424134.1631182956-211674876.1521517921

4 - PLEASE BRING PLUG ADAPTERS FOR ALL YOUR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENTS -The electrical current in France is 220-240 volt. Generally, computer adapters are fine, but blow dryers and shavers, if they are not designed to be used with both 220 and 110, will be damaged, so you need to plan accordingly. The rooms are NOT equipped with blow dryers although some can be made available upon requests. Irons and ironing boards will be available  in the laundry room in the main building.

5 - PRINTING -  If you need anything printed, sheet music if you are in the choir, messages if you are speaking, etc., please make every effort to print your needed material before the Feast.

6 - SERVICES ON THE FIRST NIGHT WILL BE AT 8:30 PM. We know everyone will be tired from the trip, so it will be a short service, but we encourage you to attend this opening service of the 2024 Feast of Tabernacles.

7 - THERE IS INTERNET IN THE MAIN LOBBY - BUT NOT IN THE ROOMS.

8 - OFFERING : In recent years, Europe has dramatically tighten the rules around receiving money in other currencies. The French Central Bank no longer accepts non-euro deposits, and small non-profit legal entities like our Church Association in France are under strict rules for depositing cash even in euros. For this reason, we have outlined below the ways that would work best for us to be able to process your offering.

  1. For our American visitors: Our preference is for you to write a check in dollars against a US Bank. We ask that you write the check to "UCG San Francisco Bay Area". We will deposit the funds in the US immediately after the Feast and then send a wire to the French Association (the legal entity for UCG in France). Donations made by check in this way are eligible to receive a US receipt that may be used for US tax purposes.
  2. For our European visitors: Offerings may be given in Euros, either by check, wire, through our on-line donation page or in cash.
  3. For all other visitors, please give your offering in Euros, in cash, as European banks will not take checks from outside the European Union. You may also make a donation via wire or the donation page.

9- QUESTIONS: If you have any issues and need to contact us prior to arrival, please call us at 1 (408) 896-2429 (Tim Pebworth’s US cell phone) or at 1 (408) 218-6960 (Maryse Pebworth’s US cell phone), or on our French cell numbers : Tim Pebworth’s number is  +33 (0)7 81 44 73 05 (33 country code is needed from outside of France, but the “0” is not included in the number – when in France, don’t include the +33, but add the “0”). Maryse Pebworth’s French cell number is +33 (0)7 67 14 84 38.

10 - RESORT ADDRESS:

Village Club Miléade Les Issambres-La Gaillarde
La Gaillarde RD 559
83380 Roquebrune-sur-Argens

Telephone: 04 87 75 00 58. (33 4 87 75 00 58 when calling from outside of France)

11 - WEATHER: Since the feast is later in October this year, you should expect to have a little bit of rain during the Feast. Average daytime highs in early October are in the upper 60s (20° Celsius) with lows in the mid 50s (14° Celsius). The Mediterranean Sea temperature is about 64° (17-18° Celsius) in October.

12 - PERSONAL COMFORT: Due to the proximity of the water, it’s possible there could be mosquitos.  If they tend to bother you, consider packing some insect repellent.  You may also want to consider bringing water shoes if you plan to walk on the beach.  Finally, the seats in the auditorium are mostly wooden, so if you think that might be uncomfortable, you might want to pack a seat cushion.

13 - CHECK-IN: On Wednesday October 16, check-in is at 5:00 PM. If you arrive by car, you should be able to drive up to the main building and temporarily park on the side to access the reception area. For the duration of the Feast, there is a designated parking lot on-site and parking is free. If you arrive earlier than 5:00 PM, you might be able to check-in early if your room is ready. If not, you will be able to secure your luggage in the main lobby and relax around the resort while you wait to check in.
